RUSHVILLE, Ind. (WISH) –  The covered bridge which spans Hodges Branch in South Veterans Memorial Park in Rushville and a nearby gazebo were vandalized earlier this week.

City officials say it will cost nearly $3,500 to make the necessary repairs to the bridge and the gazebo, 24-Hour News 8’s news gathering partner the Rushville Republican reports.

“I am just beside myself about this most recent act of disregard of property. Whoever did this really had to work at it to cause this much damage,” city parks director Danny Mathews said.

Police officials are working to find the people responsible for the vandalism.

Anyone with information regarding the recent damage is asked to call the Rushville Police Department at (765) 932.3907.
