Police make arrest in overnight shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police arrested a man Wednesday morning after an overnight shooting left two people injured.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials said Richard Burns Jr. was arrested on two preliminary charges of attempted murder.

Timmy Moorman and Sherman Wagers, both of Indianapolis, were shot in the 5000 block of Brookville Road around 2:15 a.m. Officers say they found one man critically wounded in the basement of the home.  Medics say the man suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Police found the second  man in the detached garage also suffering from a gunshot wound. Both men were taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Health in critical condition.

Police say they don’t believe the shootings were a random act.
