CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) – Officials say a 2-year-old boy and his father have died after a fire in Carmel Thursday morning.

The fire was on Auman Drive East, which is near 126th Street and Keystone Avenue. Fire officials said firefighters pulled two injured people, a father and son, from the home and transported them to the hospital.

Saturday, the Marion County Coroner’s Officer confirmed 26-year-old James Shiel died Friday and his 2-year-old son died Saturday as a result of that fire. The exact cause of death has not yet been released.

Fire officials say Shiel’s heart, pancreas, liver and both kidneys were donated to three people.

Firefighters later released the cause of the fire as electrical. Investigators believe pinched electrical wires behind a desk may have caused the fire to ignite curtains and it spread through part of the house.

Fire officials say there were no working smoke detectors found at the home.
