INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Hundreds of women attended the first round of Colts Cheerleading auditions Sunday.

Every year, new and seasoned members of the squad have to try out to pick up the pom-poms. About 200 women showed up to the audition Sunday from across the state.

All but 50 women were cut.  Those finalists will go through a series of workshops, interviews and an all-around cheer bootcamp over the next two weeks.

Even though it’s a part-time job, organizers say the women walk away with much more than just a paycheck.

“I think our ladies come away with so many memories. They are ambassadors representing the horseshoe,” Colts Cheerleading Manager Kelly Tilley told 24-Hour News 8.

The final selection of this upcoming season’s Colts Cheerleaders is open to the public on Thursday, April 3 at the Hillbert theater. Tickets are available to that showcase on the Colts website. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
