IU football player heading home after Spring Break coma

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An Indiana University football player that was seriously hurt while on Spring Break is heading back to Indiana.

Police say Isaac Griffith  was caught up in rip tide in Florida after he and some friends had been drinking. His friend saved him, but he was put in a medically induced coma.

Sunday, Griffith was awake and took to Twitter with news of his homecoming.

The redshirted freshman tweeted, “Nothin (sic) more to say except I’m blessed. Indiana I’m on my way home today.”

He went on to say, “I can’t thank everyone for there support in these past few days for me and my family I can’t say enough how grateful I am. Gods got a plan for everything.”
