Police: Body of woman, 24, found in chest next to dumpster

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) – Officials with the Lawrence Police Department were investigating after a body was found Sunday evening.

The incident occurred at the Maison Gardens apartment complex near 42nd and Post Road around 5 p.m.

Gary Woodruff, Detective Captain with the Lawrence Police Department told 24-Hour News 8 a security guard was on duty at the complex and discovered the body in a wooden chest next to a dumpster.

The chest is made of wood with a leather lid and was made by the company Lane.

Police were called to the scene and began a death investigation. The victim was later identified as Jazmine Trammell, 24, of Indianapolis. She did not live at the apartment complex where she was found, but may have had friends that live there.

Police believe Trammell was killed at a different location before being moved to the area where her body was found.

Family told police they last saw Trammell around 9 a.m. Sunday morning.

No suspects have been identified at this time. An exact cause of death will be released Monday.
