RENSSELAER, Ind. (WLFI) – Police have arrested a man connected to a robbery Raceway Gas Station.

Police say a concerned citizen called the Jasper County Sheriff’s office Saturday after 5:30 p.m. She said she saw a white male matching the suspect’s description riding his bike on Wood and Marion School Roads.

Jasper County sheriff’s deputy Brandon Napier made contact with the man at 250 W and 300 S in Jasper County.  Napier said he believed the suspect, Jacob Bailey of Rensselaer, had evidence of the robbery on him.

Suspected evidence of the robbery were located at Bailey’s apartment after law enforcement obtained a search warrant. He was taken to Jasper County Detention Center and charged with armed robbery, a class B felony. Police say the case remains under investigation and additional charges may be filed at a later date.

“I wanted to thank the citizen that called in the tip,” said Chief Jeff Phillips. “It’s people like this that solve crime and make this a safe place to live.”
