INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Officials with the American Red Cross say a deer was able to activate a door at the Indianapolis building on Wednesday and walk inside.

According to Ann A. Gregson, Regional Communication Director, the deer was at the glass window of the building around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The deer then activated the door, and walked in.

Gregson says the deer got caught in the blinds near a window and injured its head.

The deer then left the building, but later got caught on an iron fence at a nearby apartment building. DNR officers had to put the deer down. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
