INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Rolls-Royce notified state and federal agencies over the weekend after an incident involving nitric acid sent eight employees to the hospital on Friday.
The facility on the southwest side of Indianapolis had an explosion involving a nitric acid tank. The company said Monday it had been in contact with the Environmental Protection Agency and Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration over the weekend. IOSHA was at Rolls-Royce Monday to review the incident.
All employees taken to the hospital were released from the hospital by Friday night. Rolls-Royce canceled second and third shifts Friday, but operations continued Saturday.
