Hancock Co. man dies after found in pond

HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A 22-year-old man died Monday night after his family found him in a pond where he was fishing.

It happened near New Palestine. Officers got the call shortly before 10 p.m. Family members said Zachary Wood went fishing around 6 p.m. and didn’t return. They went to check on him and found him in the water.

Wood was taken to Hancock Regional Hospital, where he died.

Indiana Department of Natural Resources officials said they’re still investigating and will release additional details at a later time.
