MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. (Kokomo Tribune) – A Kokomo man was arrested over the weekend after police say he ran a group of motorcyclists off the road and punched one of them in the face.
Deputies in Miami County responded to U.S. 31 near U.S. 24 on Sunday after receiving a report that there was a crash there. Deputies didn’t find a crash, but came across a group of bikers in a parking lot nearby.
One biker told deputies a blue Buick had forced him into the median while heading north on U.S. 31 during a road-rage incident, 24-Hour News 8’s news partner The Kokomo Tribune reports.
The biker went on to say the driver of the Buick then stopped on the highway, approached him, and during an altercation punched him in the face, before fleeing north on U.S. 31.
State Police troopers later located the driver, identified as 50-year-old Michael A. Ramey Sr., near Rochester. He was arrested on a preliminary misdemeanor charge of battery resulting in injury. He was taken to the Miami County Jail on $3,000 bond.
More charges against Ramey are possible, police say. Right now they don’t know why he ran the bikers off the road and punched one.
