FRANKFORT, Ind. (WISH) – Heavy smoke from a factory fire prompted the Frankfort School Corporation to make arrangements for the dismissal of Suncrest Elementary School students on Tuesday.

Clinton County Dispatch confirmed the fire started at 11:15 a.m. It’s unclear what the facility does, but no employees were injured. Four additional fire departments assisted Frankfort Fire.

The fire prompted officials to warn residents to take caution. Wind was causing some issues. Residents from County Road 200 West to County Road 0 N/S and from Blinn Avenue and Prat Street to West Morrison Street were asked to take shelter.

Frankfort Fire Chief John Kirkby said it was merely a precautionary measure.

Around 6 p.m. Tuesday, dispatchers in Clinton County said firefighters were still putting out hotspots, but the fire was considered under control. They expected to remain on scene for several hours, police said.
