HOPE, Ind. (WISH) — Hope Police Department is investigating after a seventh grade child said someone in an SUV tried to get him to get inside a vehicle Wednesday morning.

The incident happened near Seminary and Maple streets. Police officials said the boy was at his bus stop when a dark-colored SUV with tinted windows approached him. The driver reportedly told the boy to “get into the (expletive) car.”

The boy ran to safety and called his mom, who picked him up and notified police. The investigation is ongoing, and police are still looking for the vehicle.

According to a parent who contacted 24-Hour News 8, the Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corp. notified parents of the situation.

Hope is a small community located northeast of Columbus in Bartholomew County.
