HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – To prevent flooding, Hamilton County Emergency Management officials are making sandbags available to residents.

According to a release from Hamilton County EMA, filled sandbags will be available from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. by calling 317-770-3381. Officials say to leave a message if there is no answer.

The Madison County EMA also said they will have sandbags available at the Madison County Highway Department on West 8th Street in Anderson. However, officials say residents must get their own sand.

Boone County EMA will have sandbags available on the front entrance to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. The sand for those bags will be available in the old county highway lot next to Bane Equipment on Indianapolis Avenue, across from the 4-H. Residents are asked to take only enough sand for what they need.

High water was reported on many roads throughout the county. Officials are reminding drivers to never attempt to drive through a flooded street.
