CARROLL CO., Ind. – Indiana State Police have arrested the former treasurer of the Carroll County Historical Society on theft charges.

ISP Master Trooper Detective Jay Harper said the arrest was in connection to more than $7,000 being taken from the historical society’s bank account. Harper said Melissa Oliver, 41, of Delphi took the money over the course of three years while she served as treasurer of the Historical Society. She was the treasurer from January 2011 until October of 2013.

Police said Oliver turned herself in to the Carroll County Court. She was taken to the Carroll County Jail and has since been released.

Oliver has been charged with theft, a class D felony. Harper said the investigation is ongoing.
