Man shot, killed on morning walk laid to rest Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Friends and family of the Indianapolis man killed on a morning walk Tuesday said a final goodbye Saturday morning.

The funeral for 24-year old Nathan Trapuzzano was held Saturday morning at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

He was shot and killed Tuesday morning while out for his morning walk. Police released surveillance video of Trapuzzano’s alleged attackers on Tuesday. Detectives believe the suspects targeted Trapuzzano for a robbery as he went on a daily walk. No arrests have been made in the case.

An online fundraiser for Trapuzzano’s family reached $139,000, a total that surpasses their goal of $25,000. Trapuzzano’s family started the “Go Fund Me” site to help his wife, Jennifer, cover funeral expenses and support their unborn daughter.

Trapuzzano worked as a software engineer at Ivy Tech. The school has donated a two-year scholarship to his unborn daughter.

Detectives are still asking for the public’s help with information about this incident. Anyone in the immediate area between the hours of 5:44 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. are urged to call detectives at 327-3475. Callers wishing to remain anonymous they can contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).  Callers can also text “INDYCS” plus tip information to 274627 (CRIMES).
