INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) -Dozens of men hit the streets in high heels near the IUPUI campus Saturday.

The “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event raised money to prevent sexual violence against women. Proceeds will go to the Marion County Centers for Hope, an agency that provides services to victims of domestic violence.

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said the walk was awkward and painful, but well worth the cause.

“Domestic violence is an epidemic and obviously we take it very seriously. So anything that can raise awareness of domestic violence is important,” Curry told 24-Hour News 8.

The Prosecutor’s office says its victims advocates served 5,000 crime victims last year and nearly half of the cases involved domestic violence. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
