Drivers asked to avoid I-65 SB near mile marker 179

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) – The Indiana State Police are asking driver to avoid I-65 southbound near the 179 mile marker due to road repairs.

The 179 mile marker is one mile north of the State Road 43 exit in Tippecanoe County. The right lane will be closed for about 24 hours due to road repairs.

Significant traffic backups have been reported in the area.

Drivers are told to exit the interstate at SR 18 and go east until SR 43 in Brookston. Then drivurn south or right onto SR 43 and travel six miles and return to I-65. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
