Bunker Hill man arrested, charged with fraud and theft

PERU, Ind. (WISH) – Police arrested Donald Coblentz of Bunker Hill Tuesday morning in Peru, following a nine month investigation by the Indiana State Police. He is alleged to have made unauthorized ATM withdrawals and written illicit checks from the account of his roommate.

According to a police investigation, between June 2013 and July 2013, Coblentz used his roommate’s account to make over $1,000 in unauthorized purchases and cash withdrawals.

Coblentz faces two class C felony counts of fraud and two class D felony counts of theft. He was booked into the Miami County Jail with a surety bond of $22,000.

Police recommend that citizens to regularly monitor their bank accounts and credit card statements. If suspicious account activity is noticed, they should immediately contact their financial institution. If the activity is believed to be criminal in nature, citizens should also obtain a police report.
