LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) – Charges were announced on Thursday in the March 23 Lawrence murder of a woman whose body was found in a wooden chest.

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry announced that James Wade Jr. has been charged with murder for the death of Jazmine Trammell. Wade was arrested this week in connection with the crime.

Trammell’s body was found on March 23 inside of a wooden chest in the Maison Gardens Apartment complex by employees of the apartment complex.

According to court documents, Trammell died from multiple stab wounds. Wade was identified as the suspect when his phone number was identified as one of the last numbers with whom Trammell communicated on the morning she went missing.

Police say Wade was a resident of the Maison Gardens Apartment complex and lived near the location where the wooden chest was found. A blood sample from inside of his apartment matched Trammell’s.

Wade appeared for an initial hearing on Thursday. A preliminary plea of not guilty was entered. A pre-trial conference is set for May 27.
