INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis firefighters battled a fire that destroyed one house and damaged homes on either side of it early Friday.
At 2:44 a.m. fire crews were called to 1022 Udell Street on a report of a fire in a two story house. That scene is near West 29th Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street.
The first firefighters on the scene reported heavy fire and the structure fully involved.
There were initial reports of someone possibly trapped inside the burning house, but no victims were found.
One firefighter was slightly hurt after slipping and falling. They were checked by medics at the scene and released.
The fire was brought under control within 45 minutes. Damage is estimated at $80,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
