INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Emergency personnel were on the scene of a serious crash on the east side of Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon.

It happened near East 21st Street and North Post Road shortly before 2 p.m.

Six vehicles were involved in the crash. Crews at the scene say seven people were taken to local hospitals–one person was listed in critical condition.

Preliminary information from officials at the scene is that a Cadillac was speeding and hit a vehicle, setting off a chain reaction crash.

Officers say the driver of that Cadillac, Ali Maulana, was in possession of marijuana in small packages and a digital scale. He was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.

IMPD said late Saturday night that Maulana submitted to a certified blood draw in accordance with Indiana Implied Consent. Toxicology results won’t be available for several weeks.
