GARY, Ind. (AP) — Gary police say they’ve located a truck they believe was involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 13-year-old boy.

The Post-Tribune reported Monday the truck has been towed to the Gary police garage to be processed for evidence in the death of Malik Herron.

The boy was walking less than two blocks from his home Saturday night when a truck left the roadway and struck him and a 17-year-old friend. The 17-year-old was able to go home and tell his parents, who alerted police. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Neither the driver nor the owner of the truck has been identified by police. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
