Arsenal Tech math team to compete in New York

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) –  Four students from Arsenal Technical High School will be heading to the Big Apple for the national Moody’s Mega Math Challenge.

The team will present their final oral presentations of their solution on an all-expense-paid trip to Moody International Headquarters in New York. The event is sponsored by Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM).

“I never imagined when we signed up for this that we could be going this far,” said team member John Francis. “It’s truly incredible.”

“We are tremendously excited on many levels,” said Arsenal Tech teacher Mark Blachly. “Not only is this a great opportunity for the students to see and experience New York, but it is very rewarding to know that the abilities of our students is being recognized on a national level.”

“This is truly the opportunity of a lifetime,” said team member Jackson Herbertz. “That we’re able to represent IPS on the national level is humbling, and I only wish to make our friends, family and classmates proud.”
