INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Several non-profit organizations around Indianapolis received a huge gift Wednesday to help fill their shelves with books.

It was part of the 16th Annual Half Pint Library book drive sponsored by Half Price Books.

People lined up outside the store on West 86th Street before they opened to get boxes of books. The store handed out a total of 5,000 books to any school, day care or organization that could use them.

Members of the community helped collect the books during the company’s book drive. The company matched each book.

The drive accepts any type of children’s book in good condition including Spanish language books. In the last 16 years the program has provided more than 2 million books nationwide to children. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
