Carjacking suspect arrested after pursuit

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – IMPD police arrested a suspect wanted for more than traffic violations after a pursuit.

On at approximately 11 a.m. Tuesday, police attempted to stop a 1997 GMC Yukon on I-465 near mile marker 43 for a traffic violation. The vehicle then sped up and entered I-70 eastbound at high speed.

The Yukon then exited onto Post Road, drove through a Waffle House restaurant parking lot and continued eastbound on 21st Street. Earlier in the day, IMPD had taken a carjacking report involving a vehicle that matched the description of the fleeing vehicle.

Police were then able to conduct a precision immobilization technique maneuver on the vehicle, disabling it just south of 46th Street.

The driver, 18-year-old Joshua Wesley Lee, was arrested without incident and was taken into custody to be questioned regarding the earlier carjacking.

Lee now faces charges of possession of stolen property, resisting law enforcement with a motor vehicle, reckless driving, driving while suspended, and several traffic violations. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
