CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) – Carmel’s City Council expects to consider a proposal on Monday that would allow the city to refinance some old debts.
Mayor Jim Brainard said his administration wants to take advantage of a window that allows such a change.
He said it is just a way for the city to save money.
“Simply a lower interest rate, which will save the taxpayers several million dollars between now and when that debt’s paid off, and we’d be remiss, if we didn’t take advantage and refinance that debt,” Brainard said.
Brainard said he expects the council to approve the refinancing plan, and he said the savings will go to Carmel’s General Fund.
