INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Colts began the first day of their offseason workout program with a surprising subtraction from their roster.

Center Phil Costa has decided to retire. The 26-year-old signed with the Colts just last month after spending four seasons with the Cowboys.

“Phil feels it’s in his best interest to retire from the game,” general manager Ryan Grigson said. “We certainly understand and wish him nothing but the best.”

The only other centers on the Colts’ roster are Khaled Holmes and Austin Thomas.

The Colts also announced that cornerback Josh Gordy has signed his qualifying offer. Gordy played in 12 games last season, recording nine tackles and one interception. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
