Fire heavily damages Mars Hill home

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Heavy flames appeared to have the upper hand when firefighters arrived to battle a blaze in a home on the city’s south side early Thursday.

Fire units were called to the 2900 block of South  Lyons Avenue at 5:24 a.m.  That scene is near South Holt Road and West Troy Avenue.

Firefighters were initially told someone may have been trapped inside, but a search of the house did not locate anyone.

Flames could be seen coming from the attic and back side of the single story residence.  Fire crews brought the blaze under control within 15 minutes.

There were no reports of injuries.  The cause of the fire has not been determined. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
