Man arrested in Indy for 27-year-old Guam murder case

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man was arrested in Indianapolis on Thursday for a murder that occurred in Guam 27 years ago.

According to a release, Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force Deputy U.S. Marshals, Task Force Officers, and Indiana State Police arrested Gary Leon Scaggs at a near northeast side apartment complex.

Scaggs was wanted by the Office of the Attorney General of Guam for the allegations of murdering his wife, Tracey Renae Scaggs, 27 years ago.

Authorities say Scaggs was indicted on a single count of murder on April 11, 2014 by a Superior Court of Guam grand jury.

Officials say the murder had become a cold case, but was revived. Charges against Scaggs were filed when new information was uncovered. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
