Warren Township elementary teacher faces OWI, drug charges

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A woman who’s listed as a first-grade teacher in Warren Township schools faces multiple charges after a car crash Sunday morning.

IMPD responded to the crash at 9:13 a.m. Sunday at 54th Street and Keystone Avenue. Police found the vehicle in the 3600 block of East 46th Street.

Investigators found what they believed was a large amount of marijuana, an open container of alcohol and drug paraphernalia in 32-year-old Megan Brotherton’s vehicle, according to a police report.

Brotherton was arrested on preliminary charges of public intoxication, drunk driving, dealing marijuana, marijuana possession and leaving the scene of an accident. She was booked into the Marion County Jail and later released on a $2,500 bond.

Brotherton is listed on Pleasant Run Elementary’s website as a first-grade teacher. Her initial court hearing is Wednesday.

Warren Township schools released a statement regarding Brotherton’s arrest:

“In response to the alleged charges, we have placed Ms. Brotherton on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.”
