INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – It’s week two of the Colts off-season workout program. New faces like linebacker D’Qwell Jackson continue to adjust to their surroundings.
The veteran free agent was let go by Cleveland in February in a cost-cutting move after eight years with the Browns.
When he was deciding on his future, everyone he asked told him the same thing. They said to play for the Colts and Chuck Pagano, who knows what he wants.
“He’s worked with a ton of guys on defense that are Hall of Famers,” Jackson told reporters Wednesday. “He’s well-respected around the league from a players’ standpoint. It’s funny, everyone I spoke to when I was in that process of free agency said this was a great organization to play for. You probably won’t leave the building and that’s what happened.”
Jaskson joins a defense that will get its cornerback duo back this season.
Vontae Davis signed a new four-year contract, while Greg Toler returns from injury.
“Before free agency, as time ticked, I didn’t know where I was going to be, but now to know that I’m here and I’m going to be here the next four years, it’s a good feeling,” Davis said. “I have a future ahead of me.”
“I was a bouncing needle during the offseason seeing if we were going to get Vontae back and I’m happy they got it done,” said Toler. “I just tried to put my input where it was needed during the offseason and pretty much like what I saw out there on the field when I wasn’t able to play. It’s definitely an anxious moment to get back out there with the guys.”
