STARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Police say a woman has been arrested after they found 172 baggies of heroin on her during a traffic stop.

The investigation began after police stopped Kelly A. Koranda, 36, from Logansport, for a traffic violation in northern Starke County.  During the traffic stop, officers thought Koranda might be impaired.

Police took Koranda to the hospital for a drug screen.  At the hospital, a nurse discovered Koranda was hiding 162 baggies of heroin in her underwear.

Officials say Koranda later admitted to eating 10 other heroin baggies.

In all, officers recovered 172 baggies of heroin that weighed approximately 36 grams total. Koranda was admitted to the hospital for observation due to the ingestion of the drugs.

Koranda has been charged with three felonies and a misdemeanor in the case.
