INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – More than 300 Martindale Brightwood residents have complained and, now, they’re circulating a petition to repair roads in their neighborhood.
Residents are upset because under Mayor Ballard’s proposed winter road repairs, their district, is slated to get $271,425 toward road repairs. So far, residents say there have been no repairs made.
Once dispersed, the money the neighborhood will get has specific allocations. $205,425 will go toward replacing a segment of 30th Street, Sutherland Avenue, and Manlove Avenue. $66,000 will be spent on a segment of 38th Street, Orchard Avenue, and Kinnear Avenue.
In comparison, District 24, which includes Southport, would get $150,000, and District 1, located in parts of Pike, would get $437,500.
Currently, City Council has to vote on an $8.3 million emergency funding package for Martindale and Brightwood resident to see their streets improve.
“Please come to the Martindale Brightwood to take care of our streets,” said Elizabeth Gore.
Committee will review the $8.3 million emergency plan on Thursday. There was no timetable on if or when that plan will be approved.
