SUNMAN, Ind. (WISH) – Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the death of a 19-year-old Sunman, Indiana resident.
Officers say 19-year-old Thomas Herring was found in a neighbor’s pond by Indiana Conservation divers Wednesday evening.
Thomas’s mother noticed him missing from the home around 2 p.m. and began looking for him. When he was not in the house, she looked in the woods behind the home.
His father located his clothing beside a neighbor’s pond where it appeared Thomas went swimming.
Officers found Thomas’ body in approximately 8 feet of water, 10 yards from a small fishing pier in the pond at 7 p.m.
Thomas was not a strong swimmer. It is unclear why he decided to enter the water.
