Couple arrested, cocaine and $80K seized after investigation

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Detectives with IMPD’s Violent Crimes Unit announced on Thursday the arrests of a man and his wife on cocaine charges.

Police arrested 38-year-old Jessie Cummings and 26-year-old Tequilla Cummings. Both have been preliminarily charged with dealing cocaine, a Class A felony.

Detectives say they conducted a three month investigation. On Thursday, search warrants were served in the 3500 block of North Leland Avenue and the 1900 block of Herford Drive.

According to a release, Jessie Cummings was arrested on N. Leland Ave. and taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital after he attempted to eat an ounce of suspected cocaine. His wife, Tequilla, was arrested on Herford Dr.

Police say during the investigation detectives seized about 21 ounces of cocaine, $80,000 in cash, three cars and one motorcycle.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make a final charging decision.
