ETNA GREEN, Ind. (AP) — A farmer driving a tractor through a Kosciusko County field helped an Indiana State Police lieutenant chase down a fleeing suspect.

State police say Lt. Chad Larsh last week spotted an erratic driver in a purple Pontiac Grand Am, but momentarily lost sight of him. He then found the car parked in a driveway in the community of Etna Green, about 35 miles southeast of South Bend. He then spotted the suspect running through a nearby field.

State police say a farmer driving a tractor saw what was happening and used his cell phone to call police and offered to assist. The farmer drove Larsh through the field to the fleeing suspect, who surrendered.

Police say the man was charged with resisting arrest and driving with a suspended license. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
