SCOTT COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Police say a man claiming to be interested in buying a Dodge Charger on Craigslist, took the car for a test drive, and took the car’s owner along for the ride.  The problem started when the buyer refused to let the owner out of the car.

Police say they were called to I-65 in Scott County around 4:30 p.m. Saturday regarding the attempted car theft.  When they arrived, they arrested 25-year-old Marcus Forbes.

Officials say Forbes contacted the car’s owner after seeing an ad on Craigslist.  Forbes expressed interest in buying the car and went to the seller’s home to look at the vehicle in person.  After spending hours at the seller’s home, police say Forbes asked to take the car for a test drive.  The seller agreed to the drive and got in the passenger’s seat.

The victim told police he wanted Forbes to drive back to his home, and he refused.  The victim was armed with a gun and finally got Forbes to stop on the interstate.

Forbes faces four charges in the case, including criminal confinement and attempted theft.
