Community Hospital chief medical information officer Dr. Alan Kumar also says none of the man’s close family contacts have tested positive for Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS.

The Indiana patient is the first American citizen diagnosed with MERS. He flew from Saudi Arabia to Chicago on April 24 and took a bus to Indiana.
The man went to the emergency room last Monday with a fever, cough and shortness of breath.
