Street racing motorcyclist leads police on chase

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Metro police say a man on a motorcycle led officers on a chase early Tuesday and tried to run into a creek after abandoning his bike.

An IMPD officer said he saw the driver racing with another motorcyclist at Troy Avenue and Madison Avenue on the city’s south side

Officers say the driver kept going after police tried to pull him over.  The chase lasted just over a mile and a half where police say the driver failed to make the turn at Garfield Drive and Pleasant Run Parkway. That’s where police say the driver laid his bike down, hit a curb, then took off running. Officers followed the man as he ran into a creek.

Police caught him and say they had to use a stun gun on the man when he refused to cooperate.

Investigators describe the man as a “habitual traffic violator” and say he now faces resisting and reckless driving charges. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
