INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A new Whole Foods Market will be a major part of the development of the former Market Square Arena site downtown.
Flaherty & Collins Properties announced Tuesday that a 40,000 square foot store will anchor the southwest corner of the site, located at Market Street and Alabama Street.
“Great, convenient shopping is a must-have for thousands of people moving to downtown Indy,” said Mayor Greg Ballard. “The addition of Whole Foods Market to the MSA residential tower project provides another great shopping destination for people living and working downtown.”
According to Flaherty & Collins, the downtown store will offer many fresh, organic fruits and vegetables. The location will also have a bakery, coffee bar, and a gelato station.
In addition to Whole Foods, the former MSA site will also contain a 28-story residential luxury apartment tower, as well as 2,500 square feet of retail space and a parking garage as part of an $81 million project.
Construction is scheduled to begin this fall, and take just over two years to complete.
