Multiple alarm fire sends flames into the air on southeast side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – IFD battled a three-alarm business fire on the city’s southeast side Wednesday.

The fire started at 5:34 a.m. at IndyDrum Empty Container Management Services in the 3500 block of East Terrace Avenue.

Firefighters say they responded to the three-alarm fire and had to work in a defensive mode as flames were shooting from the building when they arrived. Neighbors say once the flames subsided, there was a green hue to the smoke billowing from the building. People around the building said the area smelled like burning plastic.
