Tech Titans ranked 7th best basketball team in U.S. by Tour of Champions

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Arsenal Tech High School received a national honor for their award winning basketball season.

The Army National Guard presented the Titans Boys Basketball team with a national ranking trophy Wednesday night. The team was ranked the 7th best team in the country by the Army National Guard’s MaxPreps Tour of Champions.

The presentation was made during the winter sports awards banquet. Members of the Army National Guard presented the Tech Boys Basketball team, and Coach Jason Delaney, with their trophy. Tech was chosen from among 20,000 schools.

Delaney says it’s quite an honor for the boys on the team to be able to leave a lasting legacy. He says this award is reflective of the commitment of the team and way of the Tech basketball program.

“When we came together, Tech wasn’t a powerhouse,” said Delaney. “Through the dedication and hard work and commitment to excellence off the court as well as on the court by these young men, we were able to be one of the best teams in the United States of America.”

Tech’s team had an amazing year, winning the first IHSAA 4A State Championship in the school’s 101-year history. The team also set a single season record for wins. Tech is only the 6th Indianapolis school to be honored as part of the Tour of Champions. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
