INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Thursday was opening day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the month of May is well underway.

IndyCar drivers have been practicing for Saturday’s inaugural Grand Prix, but Thursday was the first chance for fans to see the action on the track.

“Month of May! You can’t be anywhere in Indiana. There’s no place better for the month of May,” one racing fan said.

For fans planning on heading to the IMS Thursday night, parking is $5 per vehicle in the outside lots, but is free if you park in the lot inside the 30th Street entrance at Gate 10. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
