Man hit by car overnight in critical condition

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 21-year-old man was gravely injured Thursday morning when a car ran him over on the city’s northeast side.

Around 5:30 a.m. the man was in dark clothes walking in the road along North Mitthoeffer Road when a car came over the hill and hit him. The driver of the car said he didn’t see the man.

The pedestrian was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Health in critical condition.

Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be a factor in the crash, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials said. But the driver was taken in for a blood test as part of standard procedure.

There were no sidewalks in the area where the man was hit. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
