Man killed, 3 injured in east side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – One person was killed and three people were injured in a shooting on the east side of Indianapolis Friday night, IMPD officials said.

Shortly before 10 p.m., officers responded to North Denny and East New York streets after receiving numerous 911 calls about gunshots.

When officers got to the scene they found one person dead and one person injured. Police found two other victims injured up the street.

Officials say the three people injured in the shooting were taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in stable condition. One victim had been shot in the face, a second victim had been shot in the thigh and the third victim had been shot in the stomach.

Police say two guns were recovered in the area. Officers believe the shooting was not random and likely stemmed from an on-going dispute between involved parties.

On Saturday, police released the name of the man killed in the shooting. He has been identified as 23-year-old Terrace Holmes.

Detectives say they are tracking down several leads, but have not released any suspect information and have not made any arrest. Investigators are working to determine what the injured individuals’ involvement was in the shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477). provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
