Jury finds former deputy guilty of battery


INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A jury has found former deputy sheriff, David Carrico, guilty in a case in which he was accused of assaulting a handcuffed inmate at the Marion County Jail.

Members of the jury watched the assault on security camera footage taken in the jail during the incident in 2012.

The injured arrestee filed a complaint after the incident, and was treated at Community North Hospital after his release.

Carrico was fired after the incident in 2012.  He will be sentenced in June.
