INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) Three-time Indianapolis 500 champion Helio Castroneves unveiled a new paint scheme for his Indy 500 entry this year Thursday.

He’ll run an all yellow Pennzoil car in this year’s race.

The scheme is affectionately known as the “Yellow Submarine”.  Johnny Rutherford and Rick Mears made the look famous on their way to victories at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“Incredible champions were able to wear the Pennzoil colors and today it’s my turn,” Castroneves said after the unveiling.  “I feel incredibly honored.  Just to have Rick Mears and Johnny Rutherford here, are you kidding me?  I was like, ‘what am I doing here?'”

Pennzoil is bringing back the iconic paint scheme to celebrate the launch of its platinum and ultra-platinum synthetic motor oils with PurePlus Technology. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
