LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) – An explosion at a Lafayette metals recycling company has injured an employee and possibly damaged a passing automobile.

Lafayette police Patrolman Terry Bordenet tells the Journal & Courier the worker at the Oscar Winski plant was cutting metal Monday morning when the blast occurred, injuring the man’s face.

Oscar Winski Environmental Health and Safety Director Dan Fay says the employee was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Fay says the cause of the explosion is under investigation

Bordenet says a passing motorist reported hearing the explosion and then his rear window shattered.
