Lightning strike may have started Westfield fire

WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) – Just before 5 a.m. Monday, fire officials were called to a barn fire in the 17000-block of Little Eagle Creek Avenue.

When crews arrived, they found a storage barn on the property fully engulfed in fire.

Within minutes of the firefighters’ arrival, the blaze was under control.  No livestock were in the barn and no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

Investigators can’t say for sure the fire was caused by a lightning strike.  They have to wait for a report to come in before they can confirm the cause. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
